Car owners in the UK are required pay tax on a number of motoring items. There's vehicle excise duty (or road tax), VAT is on new car purchases at the standard rate of 17.5%, and company car drivers must pay company car tax and fuel benefit charge. Tax also accounts for more then 70% of the price of each litre of fuel.
