Slip Angle

The angular difference between a rolling wheel's actual direction of travel and the direction towards which it is pointing. This slip angle results in a force perpendicular to the wheel's direction of travel, known as the cornering force.

Slip angle is caused by deformation in the tyre's tread and sidewall during cornering.
