Power Band

A defined range of rpm (revolutions per minute) over which an engine is able to operate most efficiently. The power band usually extends from slightly below the engine's torque peak to slightly above its power peak.

For example, a typical petrol engine may be capable of operating at a speed of between around 750 and 6,000 rpm, but the engine's power band would be more limited. The engine would typically not generate maximum torque until it reached higher operating speeds of approximately 2,000 rpm. Such an engine would be said to have a power band of 2,000-6,000 rpm.
