Knock Sensor

An electronic sensor mounted on an engine that detects the high-frequency vibrations caused by detonation (also known as pinging or knocking). This enables a computerised engine management system to operate the engine very close to its detonation limit, thereby improving its efficiency and power and reducing the possibility of engine damage.
