Fuel Injection

A system that delivers a precisely measured amount of fuel under high pressure into an engine's cylinder. In the past, fuel and air were mixed in carburettors before being burnt in the engine. Modern fuel injection systems provide superior metering of fuel and air than carburettors, resulting in greater efficiency, lower emissions and more power. The simplest systems use single or dual injectors in a central chamber to supply all cylinders, whilst more sophisticated systems use an injector at each cylinder to precisely meter fuel.
