Drag Coefficient

A measure of the aerodynamic sleekness of an object. The typical modern car achieves a drag coefficient (Cd) of between 0.30 and 0.35, whilst SUVs, with their flatter shapes, typically achieve a Cd of 0.35?0.45.

In comparison, Formula 1 cars tend to have a high drag coefficient of around 0-7 to 1.1; this is to minimise lift, hence increasing downforce, to avoid the car from becoming airborne.
