Congestion Charging

An initiative to try to reduce traffic congestion in cities. Motorists wanting to drive in a congestion zone must pay a fee, which is then used to improve public transport. London is possibly the most famous example of a city that has introduced the congestion charge, although Durham has also brought in a similar scheme in a limited area. Other cities around the UK are also looking into this idea.
