Combined Fuel Economy
A car's official average fuel consumption during urban and extra urban driving (i.e. in town and out on the open roads). For example, a car with an urban fuel economy of 30 mpg and an extra urban fuel economy of 50 mg would have a combined fuel economy of 40 mpg.
This economy figure best reflects the sort of driving most people do. Drivers who spend a lot of time on the motorway will probably achieve better consumption figures than the CFE, whilst those who drive in town will obtain a lower figure.
