Carburettor

A device that draws a mixture of atomised air and fuel into the engine and adjusts the proportions of each to form a combustible mixture. This air-fuel mixture, produced by air blowing over the fuel nozzles or jets, burns in the cylinders. Whilst these devices were common before the mid-1980s, they have now been superseded in most cars by fuel injection systems.
