Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)
A braking system that use electronic sensors to judge whether the wheels are skidding, or locked up while braking. If they are, the ABS rapidly releases and then re-applies the car's brakes to allow the tyre to regain traction, and to help the driver maintain control of the vehicle whilst reducing speed. There are different types of system, which an either control all four wheels or only two.
